EMS is bringing a 40's male to St thomas hospital code 1 VSA. They're doing cpr and say they haven't shocked him. I have to ask why. Why do cpr? You're not going to bring him back by doing cpr. Too bad he's going to die because they're not going to defib him.

I think they are at the movie theater at westmount mall for a burning smell that they now think is coming from a neighborhood bbq that got pulled into the theater air system.

Can't find "Van Bobbles" towing anywhere. This is the towing company that is almost always dispatched by OPP for cars caught stunt driving, but I can't find them anywhere on the web.

A few things from tonight. 4-year old punched in the face at Timmy"s Adelaide and Oxford. Someone stabbed in the chest at Dundas and Richmond and another stabbing at the Saly Ann. I bet none of these will be in the news.

EMS has called Fire for unconcious (I believe, not VSA). EMS has given 2 doses of narcan, but has still called Fire. No idea why. Why wouldn't EMS be bundling the patient up for transport to hospital? Fire get there, 3 story walkup, but patient is outside, in green space behind building. Fire then is told by EMS on scene that patient got up and ran away. It still baffles me why fire is called to stuff like that.

Tow trucks are going to hear the EMS dispatch location, so it doesn't matter if Fire doesn't broadcast it. I think for same reason Fire doesn't broadcast suicide calls (it's "see your printout" for those). If extracation is needed I think that's why they don't broadcast the location.
User avatar
hook1169 - Tue Aug 02, 2022 7:35 pm
one reason the fire are getting see printout for the MVC are that two many tow trucks are listening to the scanner and showing up and are just getting in the way

Pack road? Really? I heard that a train was holding up some LFD and they requested another company attend. Was that the same call?

Interesting. Fire is responding to I believe an MVC, with extracation, but dispatch won't say where it is. They are saying "see your printout". I've never heard them not broadcast the location before. It is a car, on it's side. Engine 2 / Car 2 is dealing with it.

@SumGuy: There was a truck protecting the crew, that was the one that was hit.

SumGuy - Thu Jul 21, 2022 11:19 pm
OPP: Until we find out the extent of the driver's injuries, this hiway is going to remain closed. Really? Driver is GCS 15 and is going to live. Why should it matter if he has a broken foot or leg or what - why not open the highway? Still - the painting truck should not have been doing road painting at night on the 401. And there should have been a pickup truck following behind it - ?

hornet, if you say so, but I check a black bag with 2 doses of 4mg narcan in it every shift. So end of story, 100% we carry it and use it. (from my husband who is LFD)

hornet - Wed Jul 20, 2022 11:43 am
I’m a paramedic. You’ll have to ask your family again. LFD absolutely has a role in all the unconscious and VSAs they get tiered to. Extra hands, getting there before us etc. But hands down, definitely do not carry Narcan.
Random Avatar
earlyyearsteacher - Mon Jul 18, 2022 11:11 am
@SumGuy LFD DOES carry and administer Narcan. They do not get extra pay for attending calls. Their job is far more comprehensive than just putting out fires. While we might not understand the intricacies of all of the jobs of emergency personnel, I am thankful we send help when (and if) help is needed!

TBIRD88 - Mon Jul 18, 2022 10:37 am
@ SumGuy, i have no idea and dont care. if they are being paid to staff a station and respond to emergencies then whats the problem? maybe do some of your own research and get your facts straight. theres a fire master plan that explains all of it and feel free to read it or just sit on your computer and complain.

Whp at the City of London is looking at all the stats, the records of all the 911 responses, and is making sane, wise planning decisions as to what responses make sense and which ones are a complete waste of time / resources / money?
Random Avatar
TBIRD88 - Mon Jul 18, 2022 10:27 am
SumGuy, and no they dont get paid for going to calls. they are a based salary like every other emergency service in the city. and again, they adminsiter narcan as my family member has done before.
Random Avatar
SumGuy - Mon Jul 18, 2022 10:26 am
Fire get waived off many VSA and unconcious calls. There is a huge increase in homeless people in this city, and they are sleeping all over the place and people don't want to come near them but call 911 and fire rolls for NO REASON. It's going to BANKRUPT US if these calls continue and firemen get paid extra to respond to these calls.
Random Avatar
TBIRD88 - Mon Jul 18, 2022 10:20 am
SumGuy, you clearly have no idea how the system works so quit running your mouth like you do. Fire is tiered for any unconcious or VSA 911 call. Do you just take a chance that the call will turn into nothing or get there and the patient is VSA or OD where fire can assist the patient. Theres policies the city runs and thats how they do it. clearly you have never needed any emergency services and if you did you will be happy when anyone shows up.
