OPP on the scanner

Postby London-Dad » Wed Nov 09, 2011 7:30 pm

I added the Elgin detachment a month or two ago. Do you find that the OPP is hogging the scanner? Should I keep the Elgin detachment on?

i like it being on there.. you do have an option for fire alone. thank you for allowing us people without a scanner to be able to listen.

Would I be correct in assuming that you, London Dad, have 2 scanners...one set for LFD and the other one for everything else? Do you have the equipment to separate all services? IE keep the fire, then have separate setup for ems and OPP?

I do like the idea of keeping it "local". Elgin is our neighbour, but the more you have set up, the less of one service we will hear. I would like to have things kept local, unless the OPP could have their own feed, at which point we wouldn't miss out on the EMS, and I'm sure we would still get a lot of the middlesex OPP.

Another suggestion would be to just have the EMS dispatched from the London center. You already have the West channel, Middlesex, Huron and Elgin, and the London channel. There is the East (Huron and Perth) and North (Grey and Bruce) as well as the tactical channels where they patch to the hospitals.

I would prefer to not have OPP on the same channel as EMS and Fire. OPP always cuts off calls from EMS and LFD and takes up a lot of air space running plates etc.
Just my opinion.

I forgot that I put Elgin back on it. I just took Elgin off so it won't be half as bad.

I like having the OPP, I live north of London so what happens in the city does not mean much to me, were with the OPP I can hear who they are pulling over in our area.
Thanks for having this site, at least I know where our local F.D. is going.
