@SumGuy I imagine it was a horrifying and devastating experience for that woman and my heart goes out to her. However, in my opinion, some calls really don't require a comment. What good can be gained starting a thread of conversation about this call?

A nice evening to be out on a river cruise...

There seems to be a water rescue starting up at roughly Chelsea Green park (Adelaide and the river) but it's taking them a good half hour, 45 minutes to get started. If anyone was in the water when the call first went out, I can't see how they'd survive that.

Anyone know what was going on at the game shop on Berkshire and Springbank? Heavy police present around 3pm in the parking lot.

As a first responder, the firefighter said he has become all too familiar with two usual responses of recovering someone who has overdosed on fentanyl. “More times than not, they are kind of mad at you for ruining the drug high that nearly killed them”. The other response, he said, is projectile vomiting.

“Usually when it’s a fentanyl overdose, most of these people have what we call the ‘agonal breathing.’ They look like they’re dead and they might be close to death, but they’re breathing maybe once every minute or so with unbelievably small pupils” Login or Register for the link

Lots of Blenheim roads, but this seems to be in Cambridge (county rd 63). 4 males, they want to make sure they're being arrested for attempt murder, not just robbery. If it was just robbery they for sure would be let go on bail.

Apparently LPD have unmarked cars following them, and "spring" teams?
Random Avatar
SumGuy - Thu Jan 05, 2023 10:50 am
I don't know why they are going through all this trouble to catch them. A judge will just release them on bail. Nobody goes to jail anymore.

In Bleinham area, following the car. This is way outside of London, but for some reason OPP arPDsaying that LPD is calling the shots. LPD is making the decisions to put spike belts out, etc. No idea why LPD is in control of this. They are thowing stuff out of the car, looks like cell phone they were tracking.

OPP are tracking a cell phone I think, might be in woodstock area. They are going to get the OPP helicopter in the air.

I started with the opp in 1980 at Port Credit (Mississauga). It was a Highway Detachment and we looked after the QEW, 427, 401, 409, 27, 403. It was there that I learned very quickly about the tow sharks, we called them bandits and that's exactly what they were/are..

SumGuy, wait till its drivers from RMS that show up and you will understand. fight other company's physically and drive like assholes to get to a scene to try and get a tow. and i can provide a video of such actions that resulted in charges being laid against the driver

The price is never right with tow sharks though.
Random Avatar
SumGuy - Sat Dec 24, 2022 7:41 pm
If or when I *NEED* a tow, why would it matter if it was unsolicited or if I called them? If the price is right, they can tow my car. What's the problem with that?

The media isin't reporting very much on the firefighter injured yesterday. Searching for this I see that in March 2014, 2 fire vehicles became involved in a multi-vehicle chain-reaction crash involving eight transport trucks and a few cars during whiteout conditions on a very icy stretch of Hwy. 402. Five firemen were hurt in that crash (4 minor, 1 broken wrist). When will we learn that fire trucks should not be sent out on 400 highways in dangerous conditions unless there is confirmed entrapment or actual fire?

@Sumguy perhaps when you need one an unsolicited tow shows up and tows your vehicle. Then you will understand.

Fire is still being secretive with tow trucks, saying just now "MVC - see your printout for details". What fools. They should be so lucky that a tow would show up in these conditions. Cutting off their nose to spite their face.

My god. They're going to use a snow plow to clear a load of car batteries the came off a transport, kerwood rd and I think 402. I'll come and help and grab a few of those batteries - I could use a few of them.

I'm sure in the future, that EV-powered police, fire, ambulance, tow trucks will perform just fine in these winter emergency conditions...

SumGuy - Fri Dec 23, 2022 12:19 pm
OPP are wondering / complaining why so many cars still on 401 in areas that should be closed. Wondering if gate arms are down, etc. Very surprising that an amber alert can't be put out telling people to stay off 401 everywhere in SW ontario. Would be the best use of amber alert, as opposed to how they normally use it.

And of course we always have to have Fire available to respond to a Tim Horton's for an unconcious drug user, right? (code 4, regardless sleet or snow or risk of accident)

Thorndale fire (and Dorchester fire?) being dispatched 401 putman for 2 vehicle MVC, no entrapment. Completely asinine to dispatch that fire truck for that reason.
Random Avatar
SumGuy - Fri Dec 23, 2022 11:32 am
Yes, stay off the road unless you're hauling Toronto garbage to London landfill. It's a matter of life and death to keep that Toronto garbage heading our way, regardless the weather and road conditions. Regardless if empty garbage trucks are blown around and have no traction on their way back to Toronto.
Random Avatar
Grtcdnwolf - Fri Dec 23, 2022 10:55 am
STAY OFF THE ROADS TODAY AND LET EMERGENCY SERVICES DO THEIR JOB. So far a police cruiser, fire truck and ambulance are out of commission because hit by other vehicles while heading to help others.
Random Avatar
SumGuy - Fri Dec 23, 2022 10:06 am
It's clear that Fire response on 400 highways during these conditions need to be changed. Only dispatched for confirmed entrapment. I don't think during any of what has happened today actually required LFD response. Most of the transport trucks involved were hauling garbage from Toronto. They need policy change during this weather, It's a crime to be a truck on the highway for that reason in these conditions.

What a mess on the 401 at wonderland. Too bad we didn't know this weather and these conditions were going to happen...
Random Avatar
SumGuy - Fri Dec 23, 2022 9:20 am
I have to wonder why they're sending more fire trucks to the wonderland 401/402 area just to be smashed up and involved in more accidents. They need to send a fleet of salt trucks to the area first!

Tanker 11 involved in MVA? Fire fighter injured? Wonderland and 401?
Random Avatar
SumGuy - Fri Dec 23, 2022 9:03 am
Sounds like an OPP cruiser was involved in MVA, not sure if single vehicle or not. Chatham area? Looks like parts of 401 are going to be closed down for that and other accidents.
