This study will obviously be used politically to force insurance companies to take vaccine status into account and raise rates or deny insurance to the unvaccinated.

Bogus study making headlines regarding being involved in an MVA and vaccine status. Study period was 1 month in 2021 in Ontario. Included drivers, pedestrians and passengers. But did not include anyone who died (!). Study claimed being vaccinated reduced your risk of being INVOLVED in MVA (not if you were injured or died or even the driver, just involved).

London Police is encrypted and unscannable. London Fire is digital. London EMS is currently analog. Will be switching to digital in the near-ish future and possibly going encrypted.

Can anyone tell me if London fire, police and ems use analog or if they have switched to digital. Maybe the wrong place to ask but I'm looking for a reasonably priced scanner as a gift and this information is needed.

OK, confirmed nobody in the car when it was on fire, 3 occupants in total. 401 is a log jam.
Random Avatar
SumGuy - Sat Dec 10, 2022 10:49 pm
I think OPP have the RO of the car, I've not heard any confirmation that there was actually someone in the car.

401 eastbound is backed up from the car on fire to veterans. The car on fire is between veterans and westchester bourne.

There's a car fire, I think on the 401? flames visible in or from the car, and a person is in the car... It's at the 195 mile marker, within the bounds of LFD range but Dorchester is now also responding, I wonder which one is closer?

Is LFD doing water rescue training right now or is there an actual incident? A bunch of units in the river now? Clark rd bridge?

A headline that I stumbled across today -> NYC To Start Involuntarily Hospitalizing Mentally Ill Homeless People. Sounds like a good idea - would free up half our police and emergency services.

2 vehicle MVC I think wharncliffe and horton. LFD gets there, reports 7 tow trucks on scene.

Is the recreational use of "laughing gas" (nitrous oxide) happening here in London (or Canada generally) ? Apparently it's becoming huge in europe. In the UK, nitrous oxide is now the second-most-used drug among 16- to 24-year-olds.

LFD being called to Mother Teresa public school to assist police for a "wash down" at the back of the building. "see your print-out for details".

@sumguy fire and PD does too, they hand write all info and even back when I did police foundations the #1 thing we were told was“whether your in the class or on the job if it’s not in your duty book it never happened”

Is there another spectacular freedom convoy on the 401 today? I hear OPP referencing a convoy at Flying J. OPP says that the convoy is now going "10-8" (ie - in service) westbound from the flying J. 60 vehicles? Highbury and wellington 401 cameras are down. Convoy has now fully exited flying j. I believe that the vaccine mandate is still in effect for truck drivers in Canada. The next camera west-bound (southwold) is frozen and not updating.

It just seems like a waste of time and money to have EMS crews set up to document their own work when dispatch is ALSO doing it - AND there will be an audio recording of all calls that can be referenced if there's uncertainty as to what actually happened.
Random Avatar
JCWhite94 - Fri Nov 18, 2022 9:28 pm
SumGuy, likely for the same reason police do. Accountability. They won't remember everything they do, so they log it in books so if they need to reference a past call they can recall the information they need

SumGuy - Fri Nov 18, 2022 9:22 am
Its absolutely nuts that the same information about EMS runs that dispatch is recording and tracking is also being recorded by EMS crews for god knows why. Dispatch knows all the info about each run so why do EMS crews also have to be troubled to record the same info?

news report that software used by EMS crews (imedic) in Ontario has been hacked and taken off-line. If you want to know more about this software, see here: Login or Register for the link

Some sort of situation happening Viscount and Notredame, staging on Belmont (no lights / sirens) a bunch of LFD attending to assist police, air-light not available. Sounds like someone on a balcony? A jumper? Edit: Person in custody.

The COL has a tender out right now for fully encripted two way radios for the fire department. Wonder if they are going to switch them over to P25 and well loose the ability to listen to them

@SumGuy it is because with dfib FD is called to assist EMS in case compressions and ventilation is required. It is not uncommon for 1 or 2 FF to go in the Ambo with medics in order to assist

I have heard LFD being called for TWO defib-VSA's tonight. Why would they keep a patient on-scene (and apparently VSA after being shocked) and call a fire truck instead of transporting the patient to the G-D hospital?

What happened at or near Grahm (sp?) road and a highway (401 or 402?) OPP dealing with some sort of shutdown for a while now. 401 traffic maps show a problem in West Lorne.
